Report for 2011 on humanitarian program

In order to support the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the foundation and its subsidiaries conducted 2940 charity events during 2011. In particular:

In 2011, the Foundation continued its charitable mission, aimed at providing humanitarian assistance to the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan though the “Health Train.”

On the basis of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan as of April 13, 2009 No. PP-1096 “On additional measures to protect the health of mother and child, a healthy generation” as of 6 to April 12, the Foundation together with the Uzbekistan Railways Company, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Women’s Committee realized “Health Train”, an annual charity event train in order to provide medical and social assistance to residents of ecologically unfavorable regions of Navoi region (Tinchlik – Konimeh – Kara-Kata – Mustaqillik – Buzaubay – Uchkuduk-2). As part of the action group of highly qualified specialists (internist, pediatrician, neurologist, endocrinologist, gynecologist, etc.) conducted a survey of the population, and the staff of the foundation distributed humanitarian aid in the form of food, clothing, bed linen to the amount of 170 927.1 thousand sum as well as medicines, vitamins, sanitary and hygiene products in the amount of 201.6 thousand U.S. dollars.

Highly qualified medical professionals a thorough medical examination of 1336 people, including 464 women (out of them – 417 women of childbearing age), 370 children, 438 men, 94 of them are retired and 32 disabled people.

In the course of this campaign targeted humanitarian assistance was provided to 1956 citizens and 23 institutions of the region.

In order to promote healthy lifestyles 18 lectures was conducted to the public.

From 23 to 28 May the Foundation in cooperation with Uzbekistan Railways Company, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized another charity event train “Health Train” to Surkhandarya (along Denau – Kumkurgan – Boysun – Darband) and Kashkadarya (along Akrabat – Dehkanabad) regions.

In the course of this campaign medical examination of population of Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions was organized by health-care doctors of Uzbekistan Railways Company and a mobile medical brigade of medical-social support branch of the Foundation in Surkhandarya region, as well as with the assistance of highly qualified medical staff of the Regional Health Authority of Surkhandarya region.

In Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions, medical specialists of “Health Train” conducted a thorough medical examination of 1075 people, including 359 women (including 326women of childbearing age), 242 children and 232 men (including 130 retirees).

In particular, During 24 and 25 May specialists of “Health Train” carried out medical examinations and distributed medicines according to the prescription to 460 people living in remote and inaccessible areas of Surkhandarya region. In addition, families in remote areas in Sariasya, Uzun, Altynsay, Shurchi, Angora, Kumkurgan and other districts the humanitarian assistance was provided in the form of food in the amount of 600 food kits (rice, pasta, flour, tea, sugar oil on canvas), and distributed 52 wheelchairs to the needy citizens with disabilities.

In total of 35 humanitarian aid was provided to medical institutions and public in the form of food for $ 25 612.8 thousand sum and medicines, clothing, hygiene items, wheelchairs in the amount of 193.5 thousand U.S. dollars.

During May 26-28 a medical examination and have received humanitarian assistance in the form of the medicines, sanitary facilities was provided to 625 people. In addition, employees of the branch of the Foundation in Kashkadarya region and its support points distributed wheelchairs to 50 persons with disabilities.

In Kashkadarya humanitarian aid was provided to 14 institutions in the form of medicines, clothing, sanitary – hygiene products, wheelchairs and food totaling $ 51.6 thousand dollars.

The Foundation, in honor of the 20th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, organized the Health Train to the Republic of Karakalpakstan from 17 to 23 September 2011 (Along the route of Tashkent – Turtkul – Miskent – Tashkent).

As part of the action group of highly qualified specialists (internist, pediatrician, neurologist, endocrinologist, gynecologist, etc.) conducted medical examination of the population.  Targeted humanitarian assistance was distributed in the form of food, clothing, bedding, and medicines, vitamins, hygiene products in total amount of $ 24 million sum and 484 thousand U.S. dollars.

Highly qualified medical professionals conducted a thorough medical examination of 1602 people, including 600 women (out of them – 537 women of childbearing age), 423 children, 579 men, 297 of them are retired and 42 disabled people.

In the course of this campaign targeted humanitarian assistance was provided to 2153 citizens and 15 institutions of the region.

During the Health Train campaign, lectures were held on the topics such as “The formation of healthy family”, “Healthy mother – healthy child”, etc. by experts of the Foundation and “Mahalla” foundation in order to improve the medical culture of the population and prevention of anemia and endemic goiter. Also, booklets on the topics such as “Healthy mother-healthy child”, “Safe Motherhood”, “Do you know what is the screening?”, “Tips for Expectant Mothers”, “Health of our Children in our hands”, “Stop addiction ” were distributed the population.

During 2011 the Foundation received 77 humanitarian supplies worth more than 22 676.4 thousand U.S. dollars  and 297 993.0 thousand soums, including:

– From “AmeriCares”  international organization (USA) 21 shipments was received in the form of humanitarian supplies of medicines, medical supplies and wheelchairs, totaling more than $ 21 444.7 thousand U.S. dollars.

– From “Ishlar Boshkarmasi” Unitary Enterprise in the form of knitwear in the amount of 3 221.4 thousand soum.

– From the “Tehnofarm” Limited Liability Company received two humanitarian supplies totaling over 61 727.5 thousand soum.

– From the “Farmhelf” Limited Liability Company two humanitarian supplies totaling over 118 850.6 thousand soum were received.

– From the “Uzbiofarm” Limited Liability Company drugs for the total amount of 25 871.5 thousand soum were received.

– From the «The Resource and Policy Exchange» (USA) humanitarian aid has been received in the form of dehydrated vegetable soup, enriched with vitamins and minerals in the amount of 93.8 thousand kg of the total amount of 232.6 thousand U.S. dollars.

– From the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Development «TIKA» (Turkey) four ultrasound scanner complete with sensors for a total of 45.2 thousand U.S. dollars were received.

– From the “Ratiopharm Kazakhstan” LP (Republic of Kazakhstan) iron-based humanitarian medicine “Aktiferin” were recevied the amount of 100.0 thousand packages totaling $ 205.0 thousand U.S. dollars.

– From the Hospital of Seoul National University (South Korea) medications, medical supplies, in particular, oxygenators and heart-lung machine, totaling 31.5 thousand U.S. dollars were received.

– From the «Insulin for Life» (Australia) company three humanitarian supplies of insulin were received for a total sum of U.S. $ 5.0 thousand, which were transferred to the National Research Centre for Endocrinology, Department of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

– From the«Friedensdorf International» (Germany)  International Organization vitamins, crutches, wheelchairs totaling 10.2 thousand U.S. dollars were received.

– From Hospital Bundan Cha and In Ha (Korea) two humanitarian medical supplies were received in the amount of 4976 units totaling 128.6 thousand U.S. dollars.

– From «ULTRA LABORATORIES» Company  (India) Doppler of peripheral vessels was received totaling 4.0 thousand U.S. dollars.

– On “Uzbekistan dori taminoti” Joint-Stock Company two humanitarian supplies were received in the form of medicines worth UZS 062.5 24.

– From the “Kayumov Sh.M.” state of emergency the apparatus with total amount of sugar 2 736.0 thousand sum was received.

– From the “Early Zamon” Company two humanitarian supplies were received which consisted tea for a total sum of 6 million.

– “Dori-Darmon” Joint-Stock Company provided two humanitarian medical supplies totaling $ 26 380.7 thousand sum.

– “Roselló Trading” provided diapers worth UZS 895.8 9.

– State of emergency “Farmed” provided medications worth UZS 3000.0.

– The ChNPP “Supromed” provided medical equipment worth UZS 457.7 4.

– The ChNPP “Radix” provided medication for a total of 060.7 thousand soum.

– The Children’s Sports Development Fund of Uzbekistan provided balls, sports equipment and backpacks for the total amount of 3 433.4 thousand soum.

– DALE “Kibray” provided permits to camp on a total of 822.3 thousand soum.

– Tashkent Pipe Plant provided two humanitarian supplies tubes for a total amount of 1 598.2 thousand soum.

– Pribory Oy of Finland provided a tandem mass spectrometer, the total amount of 520.0 thousand U.S. dollars.
